with the 50 Alaskan sizer die to size the case, then went with the 476 GNR sizer die, then the 450 GNR sizer die and finally to the 416 GNR sizer die. The neck on the cartridge will be .300. A bit longer but Dave Manson said we needed it over the .250 I wanted. The new 417 GNR holds 20% more powder than the older 416 GNR in total case capacity so I would think we should be able to gain 150 fps or maybe a bit more in a 16" barrel. Reamer is on the way and your barrel will be shortly behind that.

Sounds like a winner and looking forward to working up some

if we can get 2100 or more out of it with a 400 grain bullet

I will be happy. And hopefully that will do the trick. My 450 GNR with a 500 grain bullet was running about 1850 fps on my Cape Buffalo and one shot put him down. The 416 GNR with a 400 grain bullet puts out around 1950 fps and John says we need somewhere around 2100 fps or a bit better for the penetration.
