I have a couple nice GNR Encore barrels that Gary made for me that are 16" including brakes. So I can use them for carbine or handgun. My .440 GNR and .476 GNR are so done. I have used the Choate M4 pistol grip and sliding 6-position stock on them for a carbine buttstock and affixed a 2X handgun scope on them. I mount the scope pretty far forward. I can actually use the 2X as a pistol scope using the handgun grip or slide the carbine M4 stock for a longer length of pull and use it like a longer eye relief carbine. I do not have to make any scope adjustments swapping from handgun to carbine configuration.
I have also mounted a variable pistol scope and was able to crank it to about 2-3X where the eye relief was suitable with a carbine length of pull. Didn't work so well on higher power settings.
