Back during the shortages small rifle primers (all primers actually) and .22 rounds were the most sought items for me in my area. For some odd reason I remember .380 ACP ammo was in demand too. .22 WMR went away for a while.

.22 LR got up to $10 per 50 for a short time. I helped out a friend of a friend with a free box so his wife could complete her CCW course. That's what she used.
