The Luger is beautiful and classy, historic. But honestly I think it handles like crap. Too butt heavy, awkward to manipulate, load mags (wood bottoms are fragile), mandates 124 gr. ball ammo, has teeny sights, and generally crappy trigger pulls. It is a historic WWI relic so badly outclassed by the mid 1930's it's not even funny. I would have rather had a Broomhandle to use in the French trenches (much more a good revolver or 1911) The P35, P38, Radom, Astra, Tokarev, and others are quite far ahead in both production needs and intended use. However they even issued .25 ACP caliber military sidearms to officers! Also a horde of .32 ACP, 8mm, and .380's, .38 S&W... A whole bunch the of Lugers were actually .30 Luger caliber, not 9mm Parabellum!

But I am so glad I have been able to play with it and add knowledge, and experience to my shooting life. It has expanded my views and makes me appreciate the evolution of modern handguns. It is almost too nice for me to use and has some collector value.

I'm still in search for MY perfect CCW for actually having on my person. I am talking about very light dress clothes too. Bought a Kahr P40 that I really like, about the size of a 1903 Colt .32 at half the weight, but hard hitting .40, too hard actually. Love the action so I decided to try a PM9 much smaller version. Not much bigger than my .380. It will be in soon. I have many others for bigger belt gun applications, this is somewhere between a pocket gun and an ideal CCW useful companion. It's the hunt that is fun.

Also I built up a AR-9mm for my pleasure. It took a while to assemble the exact components I wanted. Only thing I mis-judged was shipping and new Ark. internet taxes. In all, that project was near $100 in shipping and taxes. Ouch, then another $20 for my FFL. At least I found something new to interest me. That's a rare thing these days. Only thing I could not get all done the way I wanted is most current dedicated lowers do not have a last round bolt hold open. The conversion magwells do but not as many dedicated lowers. I just went ahead and got it. It's just for fun anyway.
