1) WEAVER--CALLED THEM TO GET A SCOPE BASE FOR A LIKE NEW .22 MARLIN LEVERMATIC I PICKED UP. PHASED OUT BUT THEY FOUND ME ONE AT A WAREHOUSE AND I HAD IN A COUPLE DAYS 2) BURRIS--MY OLD BURRIS DIED LAST MONTH. THE WINDAGE TURRET CAME OUT. COULDN'T BE FIXED. THEY REPLACED IT WITH A NEW SCOPE 3) E-MAILED TAURUS SATURDAY THAT I HAD LOST THE SET SCREW FROMM THE REAR SIGHT OF THE TX22. FIRST THING MONDAY EMILY CALLED. MEANWHILE I HAD FOUND ONE AT MY GUNSMITH SO ALL WAS A-OK.

an older Burris handgun scope on e-bay and buy it. If it is scratched up or messed up inside, Burris has always fixed it back to new at no charge.
Now I am not happy with them on the handgun scopes they are making. Way back in the late 70s handgun hunters put Burris on the map. They had handgun scopes in 1X, 2X and on up to 10X plus 3 variable scopes. These days they have pretty much dropped all of their long eye relief handgun scopes and only build the intermediate eye relief scopes. They are great for shooting from the bench but not worth a damn for hunting in the field. These days their money is in the gimmick scopes. The ones that have laser, range finding and bullet drop compensation all rolled into one big bulky $2000 scope. I guess you do what makes you money but I hate it that they have thrown the handgun hunters under the bus.

had a 30mm body and had a fine dot in the middle of the crosshairs and were 3X. Kase and I used several of them thru the years. We never had any problems with them and they held up on even the heaviest recoil. I have no idea why we changed from them. Kase had one on his Dan Wesson 445 for years and I had one on my 41 GNR#2 revolver. They are great scopes but I am sure they are no longer made.
For a long time Tasco's main business was cheap scopes for Walmart and Kmart. Over the last 20 years or so they got away from that and have concentrated on the real high dollar sniper scopes for our guys in the sandbox.

30mm body and the 30mm A.O. front lens. Most of these are new. I don't see any 40mm objective here but the 30mm objective scopes are great scopes.A lot more light than the normal 20mm or 24MM objectives we are used to.

He reminded me that the 40mm scope was a target scope with very fine crosshairs and a super small dot.No good for use in the fields or woods. And he was right, it wasn't a hunting scope. So the 30mm objective scope was what Kase and I used for years. Sorry for the confusion.

I think, decades ago on my XP100 7BR. Was nice from the bench. Seems like I remember Redfield making a handgun scope way back. Anyone know, or have one?

they were very good scopes. I think I still have one or 2 of the 2X or 4X scopes at home in my safe.

I bought a Redfield 2-7x for a song due to the fact it had no turret covers. I had Tasco, Nikon, Bushnell, B&L, Leupold, Weaver, and Burris to try. The Burris is exactly the same thread pitch as the old Redfield. I called them up and a very nice guy just send me a pair of new covers for free. It actually cost them like $3.50 just for postage but they ate it to do me a favor!

I bought a Colt "Realtree" Anaconda in 1996.
It still has the original Redfield 2.5 to 7 scope
it came with. still sharp and clear.

I still have it, complete with the Realtree Redfield 2.5x7 scope and Realtree case. It's quite accurate too. I really like the scope a lot.
