But I will mention this.The HK sniper rifle, the PSG1 uses polygonal rifling, as does the Larue Tactical Stealth sniper rifle, both considered a couple of the finest sniper rifles made, as do most HK handguns, as does the Glock 19 that our SEALS use. The polygonal rifling is known to be more accurate due to less friction and less deformation of the bullet, a better gas seal giving better velocities, longer barrel life due to less stress on the barrel and several other benefits. I own several Glocks and I plan on sticking with factory barrels. Why fix them if they aren't broken? Nuff said.

It is a very interesting piece and if someone wanted it as an alternative to a G19, it would do if that's what they liked. In actual shooting it is well thought out and natural. However it is bewildering that they made (14) different variations of the P99. Not including the transition to the PPQ. I'm not joking! Many countries have bought it as a service arm (P99Q). That's what it's all about selling stuff. The internals are very Germanic and comparatively complex. You would not enjoy taking it apart or putting it back together. If you encounter one in a gun shop take note; is it an "AS", "DAO", or "QA" trigger system? Good info for gun traders, it's complicated.

Honestly I will trade it off very soon for a G19 class weapon for my combat piece. There is no need to reinvent the wheel and the Glock has fewer parts of less complex nature. Plus the aftermarket is flooded for tinkering. I've not found a more suitable weapon in my searching.

As typical GNR's perspective is a good one. The less you mess with something proven the better!

Most every cartridge that is mention is bashed as junk, stolen or something.

No one can express their idea without being attacked from one angle or the other.

Obviously, I still post. I'm posting now, but often don't because I know it will be bashed from one angle or the other.

To me, expressing likes and dislikes is a part of learning.

I see people posts about cartridges they enjoy. Then after being attacked, they post that they want no part of it. It's a shame that we can't share without the constant bashing.

absolutely no reason to switch to another barrel when the factory barrels are perfect. But I knew that would set somebody off and then another would answer him and say bad things about his Mother and so on. So best to just delete all 3 of my posts.
