Some eye candy. My partial Reeder customized Herters.

Gary refinished and re-chambered a .401 Herter's cylinder to .38-40 for me. The star on the side helps me know which one it is. Alas, I got the wrong one today. But a good photo op for the old funky sixgun.

Mine says "Herters Single XXX" it was marked Six but then XXX out as Ruger called them to task. I guess this would date the gun but I do not have the years. I also found the rear sight blade too narrow and would not allow enough light on the sides sighting the front sight. A Ruger blade drops right in FWIW, fixes the problem. My grips are real fragile and I need to let Gary make me some for it. They can keep the original funky lines of the old grips, feels lots better than it looks. I think the black Khromex a good match for the old blue. Another interesting thing is we found the cylinder is very close in size to the Colt SAA, not a whole lot bigger (OD is 1.72"), but the frame sure is beefier. They made these in .44 Magnum too!
