Guy at work loaning me his Super Blackhawk for the HHC. He has a holster rig for it also that the cartridges have been in it for a very long time. How would I clean the cartridge loops without messing up his rig? I am afraid to even try and clean and shoot the ammo!

I vote no on firing ammo, brass is corroded

No idea on cleaning the loops, wash it, but will most likely remain stained.

No on the cartridges.

Maybe a diluted vinegar solution, followed by rinsing, drying, and a leather treatment.

Even with me just losing my leg...

I’d just carry the pistol (after a thorough inspection). That thing would hold 5#’s of Ammo.

should clean up fine

Chuck a 45 cal nylon brush in your drill to clean the verdigris off the leather. Wipe the ammo down with a cloth. Shoot as you normally would.

If I'm putting together a rig that uses belt loops I make sure to load using nickel cases.

Thanks guys

Gun needed a cleaning, had lint and dust everywhere. Its probably never been shot by him, cleaned up pretty good.
