Reeder Custom Guns - 404 Jeffery follow up and question

So I got some RWS 404 Rimless ammo in and it fix in ruger no.1
But 404 Jeffery anno in Norma and Hornady will not go all the way in. I got a large refund cause it was not factory and the ammo issues.
Getting it check out tomorrow but I so tempted to shoot it, My thinking is if I have the RWS ammo first it would have been shot cause I would have not know the issue with the other ammo brands. But I think I wait.

Got a ruger no 1 in 404 Jeffery off gunbroker and my rounds will not go all the way but my ammo is over 8 years old. It is Hornady 400 gr DGS. Could it be the ammo?

Some ammo wouldn't chamber. If reamed for all ammo, the slooping shoulder wouldn't headspace of other brands and fire.

As much as I love my #1s, I never would try one.

with the 450/400s. We had a couple of regulars ask us if we could make them shoot. I told them to send them back to Ruger and let them take care of it. If we touched it, it would void their warranty. If I remember right Ruger kept the guns and replaced them with another caliber. I thought that was a shame as I always liked the 450/400. I had a Jeffreys of London double rifle in that caliber and really enjoyed it.

10 shots right from the box. I did all I could think of. Sent it back to Ruger and they had it for a summer. Contacted me back in Sept and offered me any gun they make or my $1100 back. I took the $$.
