41 Magnum
210 gr. XTP at 1400 + fps
This was fired at 50 yards. Not my best work but it will do the job.
For me the Lever Actions are my "Modern Hinting Rifles'

Most of my hunting is done with Single Shots...
Jim, you do know every AR has a big O'l hammer!

It's a single action at heart. They are very toolish but the ability to toy around with them and change to suit is very inviting for all types of folks. How some come to wear all black, sport drop knee pistol holsters, and wear finger-less gloves to accent with their $300 "tactical" sunglasses, is totally beyond me. But their money is good, and they are active sport shooters.
If Jim were to try one I wonder what it would be. They don't make them in .44 Special or .41 Magnum but they do in 10mm and .45 ACP! I have a newer, to my collection, in 9mm blow-back that I really favor. I like the simplicity and inexpensive plinking. I even can tote my Reeder Blackhawk in 9mm to accompany it.
*9mm pistol barrel threads are 1/2-28 threads and many 9mm Carbines have 1/2-36. Just to screw with you.

I have several ARs, both 223 and 308. I like having

them around as they are, to me, the perfect home defense gun, especially if the home has women or teen aged children in it. Both the ladies and teen aged kids can be taught to use one effectively. The recoil is non existent and you have plenty of rounds at your disposal.
I sighted mine in and that is it. I haven't shot them much but check the batteries on the red dots from time to time to make sure they are OK. We have little combat shoots here at the shop from time to time and I use one of them in the shoot but that is about it. An AR is sorta like a Glock. They have no class and no character but they work and do their job well. To me that is reason enough to have a couple in the house.
I have nothing against them Gary ...

when ever I have seen them used they did the job admirably. I just never had the urge to buy one.
Now if certain large mouth politicians keep saying they are gonna come get them, I have a feeling that would prompt me to buy at least one.
I’m kinda in the same boat

I bought a couple of lowers before the last ban. Never assembled them, and sold them after the ban.
May need to get another one or two.
Its ok Mr. Taylor

I to like my levers and single actions. Especially the .41 Magnum. Modern enough for me and I can still unload my magazine more accurately than some of them with a fancy black rifles.
Nice shooting Tex

In .25 or 9.3 but I have rifles I really like that I don't get to shoot as much as I want to. Never enough time!
The one I inherited has a 1" .308 barrel 24"

it weighs over 15 lbs. with scope and is useless to me. Even with a light barrel I bet it would be a 10 lb. gun. The buffer alone must weigh 2 lbs., ditto the bolt assembly. However it is VERY accurate.
I'd like to try and swap some parts to lighten it and maybe re-caliber it.
Zero. But I kind of enjoy shooting a SIG MPX @
