Just bought a Sig-sauer 938 in 22lr any body have experience with the pistol?

Bad choice for a self defense pistol.

The full centerfire 9mm version that is. After spending $600 on a pocket 9mm, one likely will not say too many bad things about it, to save face. Doug bought one and I liked the size. It's well made and accurate. Recoil was nothing to note.

My biggest gripe, and I have the same about the 9mm Hi-Power, is how to carry it. Being Single Action you have to carry hammer down or cocked and locked. I'm a hypocrite that the 1911 never bothered me. The HP safety is mushy and no real clicking detent. Cocking a hammer is not that bad, I don't bitch about the Single Action revolver. Somehow on that little pocket gun I don't like the cocked and clocked carry. I figure that's why SIG came out with the excellent M365. Of course Germans NEVER make mistakes or improper tools and a Swiss would slap the crap out of Fritz at the mere hint. Even remaining neutral.

Other than that, the big brother of the 938-22 is a jewel. They are just pricey, unless you life is not complete without one.

I ordered one of the inexpensive TX22's from Taurus last week. They are almost giving them away, comparatively. Good reviews and it is not a pocket gun but a full size combat trainer. Not a modded big gun but a complete rimfire platform. Maybe that is why they are said to work. UMAREX makes lots of "guns" for varied factories, specializing in .22 conversion versions of other folk's big guns.

It has some new-fangled trigger I want to experience and I have a legal suppressor I want to play with. Many report it produces sub-sonic speeds with normal ammo, a great benefit.

pistol in 22 lr for her carry gun is beyond me. The hammer springs are way too hard. Like the fellow above mentioned the trigger pull is mushy and the cartridge is not even considered a self defense cartridge, especially in cold weather where the bad guy might be wearing a coat. A not well thought out choice.

Most “gun guys” need to stay out of the ladies way. They are smarter than they let you think. Probably a better shot too.

Was a CZ-52 I had, cheap plinker back then, I would let my niece shoot it. She could double tap a tin can with it at 8 years old. Years later I traded it off because I couldnt stand the grip, loved the cartridge! Would of rather given it to her for the memories after the fact.

I bought the 938-9mm and a separate "upper" for the .22LR. I bought the separate .22LR "upper" to help acclimate myself to the 938 trigger, which I found to be heavy, long, and a bit gritty. Not at all like a Sig 1911 trigger.
As Gary said, not a great self defense caliber and gun combination. Heavy-for-caliber platform that needs a good dry slide rail lube to run reliably.
