S&W 48-4 22 Magnum - Rare purchase for me...

problem is they are not quite as strong as the Ruger. They are smoother by far but not as strong.

For years I wanted to build a model 29 or 629 into a more powerful cartridge just to say I did. So I did. It is the model 629 Hunter or some special thing they did a few years ago. We built a new barrel for it in 41 caliber, built a 5 shot cylinder in our 410 GNR and fancied it up a bit. Right now I am shooting the same power cartridges in it that I do in my Redhawk and have no problems at all. The cylinder is the defining part of any revolver. In most cases if a gun blows it blows the cylinder first. No gun, including this gun, is idiot proof and the gun will never be sold. Colleen knows when I croak to not sell it as is. Either destroy it or piece it out for parts. I have it sitting on my desk at home and if all goes well with my hand between now and then it may go with me on the HHC next week. My hand is getting stronger and I am shooting a few rounds a day so hopefully it will be OK for the hunt. I should be able to handle 3 or 4 rounds and that is normally the most I shoot in any of my guns on this hunt. I thought it would be good for the cornfield hunt.

I also have a new longslide 10mm I plan to have on the hunt along with about a dozen others to choose from. That is one of the good things about this hunt. I get to try out new stuff.
