Misfits are everywhere, just keep you eyes open. Hey, of all people, I'm not going to poke gun at a man chasing his dreams. I was taken aback initially when I spied a $300-400 set of wood on what looked like a $150 NEF shotgun in an African hunting camp. He has some fancy stock under tang stuff going on that I have not figured out yet, very interesting. Looks like a brass extension receiver and tang added to support the wood. Factory kit is a simple mortise and skinny bolt.

This fellow (a Canadian) built himself a .577 Nitro Express on an old 10 ga. NEF or H&R chassis. I have had and shot several myself. They generally weigh about 7-8 lbs. but sport a 3 lb. bar of steel concealed under the factory rubber pad. This feature balances the "Goose Gun" nicely. In 3.5" 10 ga. using the 2-1/4 oz. loads they are devastating tools. They outpace, in my experience, all 3.5" 12 guns except the Mossberg which has a backbored special barrel. But then again, unless you like loosened teeth, stay clear from the 8 lb. Mossberg Turkey gun and those hot loads.

The fellow's story is a good one and he ended up shooting two Buffalo in a very tough area. The animals really needed shooting and I'm sure ate just as good as high dollar trophy bulls, maybe tasted even better. Their demise no doubt helped others survive the rough conditions.
