This lead has been in a bucket since pre 2005. There is an assortment of sinkers, wheel weights, some gumball sized lead & some that was poured into a large gravy spoon. There are a couple commercial lengths marked KIRK along with some numbers. One is 50 KIRK 50 & the other is 70 KIRK 80. Anyone know what these might be? Search results were not helpful. A few samples can be gouged with a "B" Art Pencil with should be about 13BHN.

Were there zinc wheel weights a problem pre 2005?

Thank you.

I'm actually having a bit of fun locating lead & making ingots. Haven't set up an area for actually casting bullets yet though.

depending on where you live they started to use zinc weights in some parts of the us around 2000 +/-. Wa. state started around that time .i now live in Az. and a lot of shops around me still use lead weights. the bars marked kirk might be lead solder used in plumbing or for classic auto body repair
