Just watched a video about a new hand canon

They are calling it the 500 Bushwacker. Seems to be a lengthened 500 SW, seems kind of similar to the 500 Maximum except in .500 bore. The 500 Lb or 510 Gnr is more than enough power in my book.
Im Not promoting their work, just for information, or the fun of watching someone shoot a painful round lol. I'm not shooting nothing like that anytime soon , I'm still stuck in this agravating shoulder sling. Lol

I’ve seen 50BMG in a handgun before

But just because someone makes it, doesn’t mean it’s the latest greatest. There’s something to be said about a handy sized powerful revolver that balances in the hand, and is easy to carry.

Since my Granny was from Missouri..

I'm not saying it ain't so, but you'd have to "show me" in person to believe it. That case in that revolver does not seem to have enough to produce the ballistics of a 400+ gr. bullet running 2400 fps. I think the physics don't add up with the capacity and burn rates at nominal pressures.

You'd have to abuse a 24" barrel .470 Nitro Express as to much increased pressures burning almost 150 gr. of rifle powder to get that ballistic. Factory ballistics are a 500 gr. at 2150 fps for the old British round. It's plenty brutal in a 10 lb. rifle too, much les a 5 lb. handgun.

For reference my hot .454 loads shooting a 395 gr. LBT are running at 1300 fps.

Is definitely a big claim for a 10 -12 inch barrel!

Sure does sound like a stretch for a rifle barrel also, I would need some shooting sticks for those hand canons.
They also have to be running some high pressures!

I agree, I would have to see it in person

That would be hard to do in an encore 10” barrel, let alone a revolver. My hot loaded 476 GNR with H4198 got me 1915fps with 500 gr Hornady with no cylinder gap! The problem with bigger case capacity is it takes a lot more power to get a little more velocity. On top of that you have to go to a slower powder as some point of greater case capacity.

My 476GNR is 11”+ brake. And the 476 is a bottleneck to boot

I figure if I tape my wrists like boxers do. Wear a helmet. Double padded glove. Enter the whole “I can do it zen mode”. And have an EMT at hand.

Seriously guys. I’m buying one.

Come to the HHC next year.

Yeah Baby

Well, at least it has a muzzle brake! :)

I thought I had all the big ones I wanted. 50BMG PISTOL at 14 Lbs snd a big sherman tank designed brake was a hand full of fun. Now I want one and a 50-110 revolver for less fun. 50 bushwacker is a big claim out of 14 inch barrel would be possible.
