It was cool and windy today so I decided to work on loading some pre-metallic cartridges. I had 2 calibers to load for, the .36 and the .44.

It takes awhile to make these but they are well worth it when you get to the Range!

I loaded some in .45 Colt brass with cast bullets and shot them for a goof. I thought they were the 50 gr. Pyrodex but they may have been 30's. I do know I have a box of 50 gr. for a .50 ML rifle.

Several years ago I built myself a 50 caliber Encore

black powder handgun barrel. I had planned to use it on our bison herd here in Arizona. I was using 3 of the 50 grain pellets. I don't remember the bullet weight. It was very accurate but hell to hang on to. I showed it to our local game & fish guy and told me it was neat but illegal. He said black powder handguns were illegal on any big game. That bummed me out as I didn't check on the laws before I built it, so I posted it on here and sold it. Just in the last year or so black powder handguns have been legalized for big game as long as they reach a certain power level which mine would have had no trouble doing.
No big deal, you live and learn.

But you DO still put grease atop the ball?!

I like that stuff that smells like Liniment (TC or Ox-Yoke?). It may serve the same purpose?! I like dual purpose equipment.

I have been using SPG on top of the ball.
