A .44 Special Day!

I like the way it looks in the chambers .. Ready to GO!

One of the best books on the .44 caliber with attention paid to the .44 Special.

I like shooting on this range in the mornings. It faces west and the sun behind me lights things up to where I can see the sights about like I did when I was a young lad of 40!

The 6.5 gr. of Unique load in this gun shoots to the sights. I have never put a file to them. I experimented until I found a target load that shot to the sights. Then I found a full power load that shot to the sights also ... 16.5 gr. of 2400. It has worked well for me for years now.

I had bought the pristine vintage 4-cavity for a song. Thinking how I had a cherry, .44 bullets forever. How shocked I was it would not act right. Nowhere in comparison to the Keith or Thompson designs. Mr. Taffin confirmed it was not just me. How validating! Something to do with the driving bands?! I believe it was originally a Gordon Boser designed bullet. I now knew why it was cheap and seemingly unused in many decades.
