A small estate came in this morning. Not a lot
in it but if you like old vintage shotguns we have something for you. And by the way I shot each of these and they shoot just like you would want it to. The L.C.Smith is a real thumper.
First here is a Field model L.C.Smith in 12 gauge. The frame still has quite a bit of the color case on it. The barrels are in excellent condition. The stock shows a bit of wear but for something this old you would expect it. All in all this is a good one. It has 30" barrels that are nice and shiny and the lock up is tight. If you have always wanted a good L.C. Smith this is your baby. It has been a long time since I shot a classic double barreled shotgun but I really enjoyed this one. The book on this one in 80% condition (actually the color case is better than that)is $850. I have it priced at $725 and a real buy at that.
The L.C. Smith is SOLD
Next is another classic. This is a Winchester model 24. I have heard it called the round frame shotgun and it is that. An unusual shotgun and shoots good too. It is a 12 gauge with 28" barrels. The action is clean and locks up tight. The wood, like the L.C. Smith above shows some wear but nothing that you can't clean up and take care of this winter. There is a very slight bulge just ahead of the left side chamber but not in the barrels themselves. I shot it and it did fine and no bulge in the brass. Not really sure where it came from but it has no effect on the shotgun's action. This is another good one. If you like vintage shotguns, grab this one. I LIKE IT!! And I am not a shotgun man. Book on this one is around $650. I have it priced at $525 and it's worth every penny.
That's it on the shotguns, 2 beauties that I would be proud to own. This next beauty is a 1909 Winchester model 92 chambered in 25-20. Now this one would be one somebody that is good at restoring would love. And it needs it. The gun has 20" barrels and they need some tender care. Lots of rust on this one but it can be restored. We have restored guns a lot worse than this one. Th metal has plenty of rust, most of which can be buffed off. The action works fine. The barrels have some rifling left but don't expect a miracle. This one would be fun as I enjoy bringing something like this back to life. The wood on here is strong but scuffed up from use. The old gentleman that owned these guns hunted with each of them up until a couple of years ago. If nothing else it would look good hanging over the mantle. The book on this one is probably a bit high at $850. At least I think that is a bit high so I have priced it at $595.
