Spent a little time this morning on the Range shooting my old Linebaugh Ruger .45 Colt. I was trying out some loads with Green Dot in it. Using the SSK 270-451 cast bullet and 6.5 gr. of Green Dot.
They were fairly slow and hit about 4" above Point of Aim. I think I will go up a grain in the powder charge and try them.
The 8.5 gr. of Unique with the Lyman 454190 bullet hits close to point of aim.

I also noted you have the rear cranked down tight. The 7.5" guns do usually have a tall front sight. I'd much rather a gun shoot high than low. I like to see where the bullet is going to hit, and not cover it up. Some modern 9mm autos hit right under the dot, drives me crazy, but I suppose it's more tactically correct.
Got'em down as low as I can ...

was sighted for the 300 gr. bullet at 1100/1200 fps. I took all the guts out of the rear sight ... made a steel insert in place of the windage spring. Filed it until it was hitting center. Then I Superglued the whole affair internally. I don't want my sights moving, especially for a hunting gun. I have one load I used for hunting and never messed with the sights after that .. for the last .. oh .. maybe 30 years.
The front sight is marked for 200 yards.
I knew there was an interesting story behind them.

Green dot is the dirtiest of powders. What suggestions for .445 Supermag ? WW680 suggested but stands next to it ?
That's Funny!

At least to me. I have never thought of any smokeless powder as being "dirty." Shoot black powder for a year or so and smokeless powders sure look clean.

I've used it in .44 and .45 stuff for "pleasant" loads with good results.
The fact that my wife buys it in eight-pound "buckets" for skeet reloading makes it economical for the small amount I use and she doesn't even miss it.
I use it in .38 .. .357 ... 9mm ... 45ACP
