My travel kit, not quite perfect.
I think I want to swap the 4” for a 6” barrel. I can’t screw anything on the end, and I’d like to. Couple or three options. I found a 2” spacer/extender for $50. Or a 6” barrel to replace the current 4”. The handguard is so short I can’t really put even a hand stop on it. I could go longer still and mate it with a 7-1/2” barrel. I think the tube guard is 6”? I think they make 7” tube guards.
But it’s a fun combo and they share ammo and mags. I guess I could do worse.

Under that handguard is a 4" barrel, the can
type blast diffuser is half covered. I need those threads at the end of a handguard. I'm trying to figure the best way to accomplish that. Barrels are 5", 5.5", 6" (rare), and 7.5".
I think I need to swap out the handguard and or barrel. But I can sell the used parts for something too.
Kase just looked at your AR and had a couple
of suggestions. He said go with a different handguard, one with a Picatinny on it, like M-Lok. And absolutely stay AWAY from steel case ammo for any AR as it will do lots of damage to the gun. It's cheap but cheap doesn't always mean good. It will gouge up the feed ramp and mess up the chamber.We have had several ARs come in with damage due to steel case ammo.
I think that hand guard is marked M-lock? I’ll check
It has some strange “M” symbol on it I remember. I just found that box of ammo in there. I sure didn’t buy it. But good point. With guys buying ammo by the case you don’t want to end up with hundreds to run that might advance wear. I’ve seen the brass case CCI and Federal brass at great prices lately. I think a good deal.
I do think a M-lock, longer with a hand stop would make me feel better. It’s almost too short to safely run under duress. My worry.
I found this advertized as M-Lock but
it's very short, maybe enough to expose my threads on the 4" barrel. And it has a hand stop built in. That may fix everything I need. I think the handguard I now haev on it is a 6"? I like the shorty with the hand bump on the end. They had a longer one like this too but I'd need a longer barrel also, like a 7-1/2".
