I'm sure this has been discussed before, but what's the "better" 1911 follower design in the magazines? See the attached. The two mags on the righ have a different designed follower. I appreciate any thoughts or advice on the subject. I am trying to cull my "bad" mags for "better" ones. [image]

I prefer the Tripp research Cobra mags with the curved follower...

on the left are better but not great. What you need to try to go for is a one piece follower, rounded at the front. The 2 mags on the right will eventually come apart like this one

The best mags are ones found on the Star PD. Consumers Guide to Handguns listed the PD magazine as the best and most dependable on the handgun market 11 years in a row. This is that magazine...

Unfortunately magazines with the rounded follower are hard to find. The main thing to stay away from is mags with the flat piece on the left front that holds the slide back. It is prone to come completely out of the mag body like in the first pic above. The 3 mags in your picture on the left are OK but not the best. A lot of mags with well known names are junk made in Taiwan or some other exotic place and are high dollar but still junk like the 2 mags in your pic in the right. That little flat piece just above the spring will fail on you and cause the whole top of the magazine to move forward and lock up the slide.
The best magazines these days for the 1911 are those made by Mec Gar. They make the factory magazines for about 35 companies and they feature a one piece follower.

The price on the Mec Gar mags are decent too with an 8 round mag for the 1911 running around $25.

Thank you Gary!
