It’s easy to fool yourself

I bought my G30s to replace the wonderful little Star PD. The soulless G gun holds 10 .45 ACP and was as thin through the slide as a 9mm. I like the tapering muzzle as well. Some LA detectives were mixing parts, making their own Frankenstein rigs. The factory got wind of it and started producing them.

It’s just a tool, a reliable tool. You’d think it was small, it feels compact. But in reality it’s the same size as a G19/23. Oh well. Pick your caliber and go.

The .45 is really soft shooting. [image]

I absolutely love my G30.3

It appears to be my most accurate Glock too.

I promote the Glocks all the time as "the best" carry

gun but I am sort of a hypocrite as I could never carry one myself. I am too picky and too set in my ways. I am still looking for a replacement for my Star PD. The closest I have come is my Browning Hi Power. As far as feel and accuracy it will equal the PD but is heavy and that sorta eliminates it as an every day, all day carry gun.
The Glocks are super dependable which is what you need in a carry gun but I have yet to find one that is as accurate as my PD. It will keep all the shots in the "kill zone" at 25, so I shouldn't expect more. I have a Glock 17, 19, 43, 34 and 21C and each one will shoot a 2½" group at 25 but I would like it to do better.

I shot a Colt lightweight Commander a while back and it has come as close as any as far as being accurate and easy to carry. Unfortunately the Colt belonged to a friend and I offered my virgin sister in trade but for some reason he wanted to keep it.
I tried the Kimber Pro Carry and it failed the feeding test. FMJ was all it would feed reliably.
The search goes on.

I have a slicked up Star PD

Work was done by a real professional, so I am not sure you can afford it.

I HAVE ONE ALSO!

I have re-blued my PD at least 3 or 4 times.

But I don't know where he found a professional in some of the places he hangs out in. He's the one in the yellow vest. He shot the Tennessee bull. You can tell it's a Tennessee bull as he is missing some teeth.

I found the G30 ok ...The G29 even better so...The G30 went down the rd...I carry the 29 at least 5 days a week when out and about...

I like the 29, it feels huge though. Just a little wider

Than a 30s. Of course the bottom of the 30s is the same as the 30 and 29, it just has a “36” width slide on it. I never handled a 36 6-shot .45 Glock. But I carry a Kahr PM45 (6-shot) a bunch, along with a P40 Covert as well (7-shot).

My wife has a wonderful SIG 365X. It holds 12 with the short mag. and may be the perfect compromise. I CAN hit with it as well. Anything much smaller and I have trouble. The only exception is my teeny Astra 200 in .25 ACP. It shoots phenomenally, but to what end?! lol

Both of these would have been totally off the chain, exotica, back in the 1980’s! But there IS a point of diminishing usefulness when sights or controllability become compromised for size. Back in the day custom ‘Smiths chopped full size guns and IF reliability could be maintained, they were good to work with. I just never could afford any back then. Saw them at shows.

I love all 6 of my Glocks and my 19 gets a spot in the EDC roster, but after picking up and handling my Sig 365 X Macro Tac Ops... 17 rounds in the stock mag annd its a tad bit smaller than my 43x...
