so hogging out the throats and using larger bullets are the cure. I can't really believe back in the day they had .427 barrels and .429 barrels for another application. Maybe so.

My .44 Magnum cylinder SBH reamed out to .44-40 has .431 throats. Shooting the "Cowboy" soft lead bullet factory ammo it bumps up and shoots pretty accurately. I've never tried .427 Jacketed ammo. I just load .430" bullets, a .43-40 if you will, and it shoots great.
