came out. They mentioned that the original 44-40 was .427 but the vaqueros would be .429, a more standardizing caliber. I don't know if there were any Vaqueros released in .427 caliber. I remember this due to getting phone calls from old farts shooting original Colt 44-40s that were in .427 and griping that the new ammo would hurt their guns. I referred them to the ammo manufacturer as I wasn't and still am not, an expert on that. The soft lead bullets in .429 caliber shouldn't cause any problems in a .427 bore. But that is guess work on my part.
