thing on a Marlin is the buckhorn sight. A Marbles is better but I found with my glasses I can focus on both the front sight and the target and the peep is a blur that automatically centers the front sight for me. I a few on rifles and I have two on pistols and they work for me. I prefer scopes and no glasses but a good peep works for me still.
