If Ruger does it right, it should be a good one. The FN had all kinds of accuracy problems and magazines were expensive and hard to find. Then the steel core bullets were banned and all kinds of negative stuff cropped up. Since then, 10 or more years ago, most gun companies have shied away from building a gun in 5.7. I do wish that Ruger had given it a different model mane. the model 57 can be real confusing as the S&W great model 57 in 41 Magnum comes to mind when I see model 57. But the younger crowd don't relate to that gun so probably no problem. We are supposed to get one of the new model 57 when they have their early release, which is usually right after the SHOT show, so we shall see.
