Huey, you are correct. I own 5 38-40s and they are a delight to shoot and hunt with. My 2 favorite are a convertible Ruger from Buckeye Sports 38-40/10mm and one that Mr. Reeder built for me. In South Carolina when I lived there, where the deer are everywhere, I kept my freezer full of meat with the OLD 38-40. One shot would usually do it if I did my part. Who cares if its old. The 38-40 has and will stand the test of time. Happy Shooting!
