I have used both and either can be removed with a screwdriver. I have heard some people needing to apply heat to remove the red, but I haven't encountered that. Blue should work fine.
The key is to thoroughly clean the base, screws, and screw holes with a degreaser or alcohol. If you haven't purchased the Loctite, see if you can find the sticks. Much easier to apply without getting it everywhere.
