I get a bit sick and tired of sitting around the house so I took off for the day to the NW part of Massachusetts. I decided to do something a bit odd.
I took a set of gold pans and did some panning on the Cold River which empties into the Deerfield in the town of Charlemont.
I did not find anything but black sand and mica. But it was better than sitting around. I was in a spot that seemed to elude some pop up thunderstorms.
There are some bears in the area. In fact this part of the state has the highest concentration of black bears in the state of Massachusetts.
So my SP 101 and some Underwood ammunition came along for the ride. The trip was nice and I did have some fun seeing what was in the river . The downside is I now have a sore back and have to sit on a heating pad for a while.
