I find that often true .308 vs .311 bullets

at less than maximum loads. Maybe it's something to do with the throating being more tightly engaged and aligning the bullet better? I think the .311 may even shoot a little better in many instances. They sure do in .32 ACP! I have a .327 Federal Encore tube that I shoot .32 ACP in some. The 71 gr. FMJ are a bit wild grouping while my larger diameter cast handloads shoot into the same hole. I think the barrel is .308", but it likes what it likes. Maybe the oversize cast bullet is straighter to engage that long jump to the .327 Federal chamber's throat?
