I like those wad cutters that are dual ended, they shoot either way. Wadcutters smack hard within effective distances. I had a friend who always hits me up for loaded shooting rounds. He found a target of opportunity, a nice 8-pt. Whitetail at some 50 yds. distance. His arm was a Colt Trooper MKIII 6” that I traded to him our senior year of high school. However it was loaded with 148 gr. Bevel based wadcutters ahead of a charge of Unique. Likely 800-900 fps.

One handed, one shot to the neck vertebrae. It went down like it was hit by a truck. He ate it, all. The trophy head still adorns his wall some 30 yrs. later. It’s a prized handgun trophy. He has the wadcutter bullet found just under the off-side skin. Surprisingly it’s slightly “flaired” or expanded if you will. Small bits of bone still embedded in the lead.

The old Colt has served him well. However it tends to shoot its barrel slightly loose every dozen years or so. Coil spring action and some cast parts, purists snub them, but it’s done well.
