But only with "standard" .44 Magnum level loads. I would not push it at all. Brian Pearce also did an important column pointing out just because Uberti chambered the Model 1873 in .44 Magnum it did not mean there .45 Colt Model 73 could be loaded heavy. I also enjoy shooting my 1866 .44 Special with .44 Russian loads however it is necessary to seat the bullet out far enough to approximate the OAL of .44 Special loads.
