Even if it doesn't work out, it has provided me with several months of messing with it .. trying different things .. and learning how to do stuff that comes in handy like learning how to cut a nice, level dovetail.
It's sorta like life. The Journey is the important part. The Destination has all been arranged and paid for. Pay attention to the Journey. There's stuff to learn.
