great tool. It's the perfect size, carries just enough payload, is accurate, reliable, shootable. A man could do lots worse.

That 590 I found a bit hefty in stock trim although it has the right stuff. I use the lesser 500 in "Turkey Gun" configuration. The 24" barrel is not too long and it's lighter and handier, if a bit less tactical. I took an old 870 and dressed it to kill, but under it all it's just an old 12 bore pump farm gun. Pressed to confess I like the open bottom of the Mossberg and the tang safety better too.

The PD is a nice gun, a pro's gun. I sold mine for a Glock 30s to replace it. Zero emotion but it holds a few more rounds and I don't fret over it much.
