coming along very quickly these days in the terms of power and "knock down" whereas in the past it was just a FMJ cartridge issued to law enforcement. These days if you had to give up your 40 or 45 and go to a 9mm, you wouldn't be losing anything. But in the past the 45 was the big dog and anyone with a brain who was in a rough part of town carried the 45. It has been issued far longer than any 9mm has in the past and has been relied on far longer than the 9mm has. Not saying it is the best but 30 years ago or so if you had your choice of a standard ho hum 9mm FMJ or a 45, most would automatically go with the 45.These days things have changed.
