I wanted one mechanically sound I could shoot

I am glad I waited to maturity. God takes care of me like that. I can really enjoy all aspects of it. I can't wait to feel the grip, balance, the reach to that flat worn hammer checkering. The feel and sound of that click-clickety-click-click. The way the black looking grips show true brown in the good light. The camming glide of that ejector, worn smooth over a literal century, as it slides through the gun. I'm a hopeless fanatic but I do enjoy it.

Then there is the load crafting mentioned. Figuring the bore and most suitable dimensions for peak performance. Back in the day soft lead was likely the most forgiving aspect of all the shooting. So it leaded up the bore fast, but it bumped up and shot good till it did. We have a different perspective today. Even without hotting up the velocity simply switching to a bore riding proper slug with nice generous meplat will do wonders for terminal performance.

Yes I can hardly wait. Another gratuitous photo.
