it is the best way to get a 7mm GNR case. You just load it like this and shoot. I seldom ever lose a 7 GNR case. Why Elgin Gates (who I otherwise thought to be a wise man) would not make the 7mm International where a necked down .30-30 case would fit to fire-form is beyond me. It would have been so easy and add about 5 grains capacity to his stubby little 7 International.

I think some of those guys were so obsessed with "just enough" but no more, that common sense went the wayside sometimes. It's such a pain to get that shoulder back just a bit more and for no real reason.

The 7 GNR is simple. Just enough neck to hold the bullet, the rest blown out with a sharp shoulder for efficiency. Once formed it makes no special fuss. I tried some 7x30 Waters once in it but it blew the shoulders. Maybe it was the ammo. The .30-30's work fine, ditto in the same done to the .256 Falcon. .25-35 don't work too well in it, .30-30 do.
