I use these for a straight wall .40 caliber magnum (1.29" case length) in my 686/646. Works for 10mm auto rim, as well.

All you need to do is trim to length and ream the inside of the neck. I also expand the neck by 5 thou with a mandrel first, but it's not necessary.

The base diameter is already perfect and it conveniently has the ubiquitous .473" rim. So, if you want a bolt action, magazine fed carbine a new barrel is all you need.
