understand what gun shops are going thru right now. We can't just get on the phone and order anything. We have to wait until our distributors call us and tell us they will let us have whatever they got in overnight. It may be one gun, it may be 4, or it may be 10 boxes of ammo. But very seldom that much.

You mentioned your LGS didn't prepare for this earlier. There is no such thing. I had over 50,000 rounds of ammo set back due to a feeling I had way back after the 2016 election. Once things went to hell after this election we brought it back out a little at a time. It lasted about a week because we were the only shop in town that had any ammo to speak of. Yesterday we got 3 handguns in, all the Taurus G2C and G3 and they lasted an hour. We have been limiting the customers to 1 box of ammo at a time and a case lasts less than a day. So where does "being prepared" come into play here.
I thank God we have our custom gun orders, almost 300 of them. My guys are working on them but many are set back due to no parts being available. Again where does "being prepared" come into play on this either.

There is no possible way any gun shop could have been prepared for this craziness. Today is Saturday and it will be wall to wall Phoenix and California people all day. Apparently Phoenix is out, totally OUT of just about everything, so people are driving 3 hours to buy 2 boxes of ammo or maybe if they are lucky a handgun. California folks can't buy any guns but they will grab everything else they can get.

Longguns are gone. We have 4 or 5 self defense shotguns and one of the new Winchester 22 rifles plus a 338 Win. Mag rifle and that is it. So where along in there could we have been prepared?

Shotshells are mostly gone. We had a couple of cases of steel shot that we had had forever. But now folks are buying whatever shotshells they can get. There is a huge rush and demand for 410 shotshells. No idea why. 30-30 ammo, people would kill for. 30-06, gone completely. Plus all the normal handgun and rifle ammo. Gone. Our shelves are not bare but the calibers that everybody wants are gone.

I still had some ammo set aside here at the house as a "just in case", a couple of big metal ammo cans, maybe 1000 rounds of various calibers of ammo., and Colleen is on the way to the shop right now with the last that we had set aside. And it won't last a day.

So Monsieur Boggs, maybe you can tell me how I could have been "better prepared". I can use all the advice I can get.
