I took a Barry's Plated 230 gr. 45ACP hardball and put it nose to nose in a vise with a commercial jacketed 230 gr. 45ACP hardball.

I put a small flat on the nose of each bullet so they would 'mate' up fairly close.

The jacketed bullet penetrated and deformed the plated bullet and basically did not harm it. The jacketed bullet could be loaded and fired with no problems.

I have done this in years past with a bullet of known hardness when checking some that I wasn't sure if were harder or softer.
