You can load it up to do what the 454 will do but the recoil isn't as bad due to the load not being heavily compressed. Plus with a lighter weight bullet with less mass to be shoved up the barrel the fast twisting recoil is just not there. I am not a ballistician so it is hard to explain but there is noticeable difference in recoil.
I will have to say the 454 I borrowed from Michael Mendes to use on my Cape Buffalo a month or so ago didn't have the recoil I expected but it had a longer heavier barrel with a muzzle brake on it so that had to have something to do with it.
