Your Ruger has a shorter barrel too, right?

I figure that 240 is not running a full 1900 fps! THAT hurts. Adding a rubber grip is like getting hit with a water hose. I'd rather have that SA slick grip roll in my hand.

Any .45 Colt Ruger spec. load would be a blessing in that .454 case. You even have a 1/10" capacity safety margin on the loads, not that it's an issue in a .454. In a FA I had issues with "dirty" powders. 4227 was not a happy combination for me, I figure 2400 would not be either unless magnum primers were used. But the Ruger is not as crazy tight as a FA. I have locked up a RH once with 2400 granules getting under the ejector star. I know Keith didn't like magnum caps but things are different today. He's gone some 37 years now and really left way before then, the stroke and all.

I found I could not use rifle primers in my Ruger RH. I know Bob Baker likes the Remington #7-1/2 Benchrest Rifle primers for his .454's. Stumbling on to some of those to try would be lucky. I use CCI Small Pistol Magnum primers I have stashed special, for both the .454 and .429 GNR. I can use small rifle primers in my Marlin .429 GNR and Contenders just fine.
