I guess checks are a nickel a peace. I only use the dacron over the powder, the compressed shot acts as a solid projectile till out of the bore. A thicker car wad would be ok. I think a dab of glue on the end wad would work to. No glue is likely to over power the shot. A car wad over shot with a little hot glue would work too.
I saw a fellow actually making "hot glue" bullets with primer drilled cases to shoot in his basement. Said they did great.
