A Guide's guns are very interesting to me.

A fellow smaller than me was seemingly intelligent and quiet. He carried a slightly shortened .375 H&H Mauser with well worn checkering from being carried in hand. His handgun was a Super RH in .454, also modified, by Mag-na-port. I felt pretty good with him. The other Bozo was a loudmouth, had a pretty new synthetic and stainless custom 28" barreled .300 Ultra-Mag., with a 6x24x Leupold scope (sheep rifle), to use on bear in the alders. He also had a lightweight 4" S&W .44 Mag. Scandium frame gun with Grizzly Ctgs. heavy cast loads in it. I figured the bear would get him first as he was older and fatter than me. He's the first Guide I've ever had to tell NO also. He wanted to get down and on the 4-wheeler while the adolescent Grizz was on the bait. He was tired of waiting. I told him I would do what I could with my single shot but I was saving the 5 in my .510 Revolver for me keeping him out of the stand, because I was not going anywhere! He shot two rounds from the .44 to scare the bear (I was thankful it did not grenade the cylinder) and one from his .300 to no avail. Then we found both of his Safariland speedloaders would not release his back up cartridges. I worked on them a bit and darned if I could figure it out. They were the push to release type. Piss on that, HKS rules.
