here is where we are going in a couple weeks, already went earlier this summer, but the next time is opening of caribou and then in mid september we will also go for moose and close the cabins for the winter . even in september the nights get in the the low 20s to mid teens.

my wife and i at the old miners cabin, it has sod and grass on the roof.

some grouse taken with the old marlin 410, made in the 1920's

last years moose was taken just before sunset, about 630 pm. as we were cutting it up that night, it dropped into the low 20s before we were done

my wife with the marlin 336ER in 356 winchester

the moose is the one on the ground, not really big at all for alaska

the night was not only cold but crystal clear and the northern lights came out while with we were working. thats a classic northern hunt !

they were still over the cabins when we finally got the moose pieces into the shed and turned in about 1140 pm

it seems more fun now than it did then.
