Hard to see in the photo my nephew sent me. His buddy found this in a gun shop in California. Barrel marked .44 .. frame marked .41 ... and his friend checked it and it is apparently a .44-40!

No signs of who did the work on the gun. Been reblued. You can see the jeweling on the hammer and trigger.
