where you say it says 44 magnum. I have never seen Ruger put the caliber on the left side of the barrel like that. we looked at several old model take off barrels here in the shop and in that spot there is the Ruger logo and the proof mark. Can you take a take a better pic of just the barrel marking and maybe we can see what you are seeing.
