There was a historic gunsmith named J.P. Gemmer who made Hawken style rifles of the very finest quality. He incorporated some of the same manufacturing techniques into the transition models of paper cartridge breach loading and finally ctg. guns. The dual wedge pin forestock retention, early style front sights, and ramrod, and even classic longrifle wood, are all typifying marks of the J.P. Gemmer model Sharps. This one even has "browned" furniture like a fine old flintlock would sport. I'm still learning about them myself.
Shiloh only made a very few. Obviously the unique features added to the trouble as they departed from the bread and butter Sharps models.
