Successful trip to Kodiak

I was at Rohrer Bear Camp from the 12-19th. I was the only hunter in camp and the last hunter of the season. Sam Rohrer, the owner was in camp and I flew out with his two young sons. Sam told me he had Gary put a Gunfighter grip and action job on a Super Blackhawk about 10 years ago. I took my 8mmGNR Encore pistol and a 7-08 Encore rifle. I made 2 one shot kills with the rifle as I hadn't blooded it. Had some temps in the teens and a day or two of high winds, 1 day of light snow but fortunately no other precipitation. All my gear worked and I could stay warm. Fantastic country, something I've always wanted to see. Saw 2 brown bears but fortunately I was in the skiff and they were on shore at the time. There was also the opportunity to hunt ducks and fox. Saw a red fox and cross fox.

There were 2 Assistant Guides in camp and they were extremely helpful and as excited about my deer as I was. Here's Aaron pushing an inflatable thru the ice out to the big skiff.

The owners son shot this 'stag' a buck with no testicles, possibly due to inbreeding. It was also in velvet and what they called a cactus buck.

I brought about 80 lbs. of meat home. Both sets of antlers are very symmetrical and have longer eye guards than usual. I'm going to get 2 Euro mounts made, should look quite nice. Thanks for reading this and hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.
