I've wanted to go there for as long as I can remember.
I wanted to get to country with those high parallel ridgelines separated by a valley where you can see for miles. I wanted to possibly see brown bears. I wanted something physically challenging. I've been to Alaska in August and June, I thought I should experience it when it's cold. I went to the Eastern Chapter of the Wild Sheep Foundation convention in PA in 2020. Dick Rohrer had a booth there, he's originally from that area. I have a DVD of brown bear hunts from his camp.
They had donated the deer hunt to the Foundation and I won that raffle. So a bunch of things came together.
